Whatnot Setup

Vendivo prepares a clean portrait program on your Mac. Whatnot Show Tools connects to that program and owns the public Whatnot broadcast.

Stay off air until testing is finished

Complete output verification and every required camera-view test before starting the public broadcast. Vendivo cannot safely switch and test the remaining program scenes while Whatnot is broadcasting.

What Vendivo prepares

The Whatnot workspace is fixed at 1080 × 1920 (9:16) and includes:

  • Seller — seller camera full-screen
  • Product — product camera full-screen
  • Stacked — product receives most of the frame, with seller below
  • Picture-in-Picture — product stays full-screen with a smaller seller window

A one-camera setup uses the full-screen Seller and Product views. Two distinct cameras enable Stacked and Picture-in-Picture.

The audience receives the camera composition and configured microphone. Vendivo does not render its dashboard, item queue, labels, seller cues, warnings, scene names, “Picture verified” status, Whatnot banner, or Vendivo branding into the program.

1. Choose Whatnot and assign cameras

  1. Open Live Selling.
  2. Open Show Settings → Accounts & Marketplaces and choose Whatnot.
  3. Open Cameras and choose a one- or two-camera setup.
  4. For one camera, assign Camera 1. For two cameras, assign separate Seller and Product cameras.

See Camera Setup if a camera is missing or the wrong source appears.

2. Prepare the production engine

Open Show Settings → Production Engine.

Select Set Up OBS Automatically for a first setup or Sync OBS Setup after a camera or workspace change. Vendivo creates or synchronizes these managed portrait scenes:

  • Whatnot — Seller
  • Whatnot — Product
  • Whatnot — Stacked
  • Whatnot — Picture-in-Picture

Wait until the production engine and scenes report ready. Scene creation does not happen inside Apply & Verify.

3. Choose audio

Open Show Settings → Audio.

  1. Choose the microphone.
  2. Select Test Microphone and speak at show volume.
  3. Select Use This Microphone.

If the program should intentionally be silent, enable Make Vendivo broadcasts video-only and apply that choice instead. Whatnot Show Tools can carry the Vendivo-managed microphone; OBS Virtual Camera cannot.

4. Set the local connection password

Open Whatnot Connection… in Vendivo.

Use:

  • Address: 127.0.0.1
  • Port: 4455
  • Password: at least eight characters

Select Verify & Apply. Then use Copy to copy the applied password. Vendivo clears that clipboard copy after 60 seconds.

The password authenticates a local connection to OBS on this Mac. It is not your Whatnot account password or a stream key.

Finish active output before changing the connection

Vendivo blocks production-engine credential changes during an active or interrupted local show, a broadcast, recording, output transition, or production setup. Stop the public broadcast and confirm it is off air, stop and finalize recording, select End Show if the local show is active or interrupted, and wait for any broadcast, recording, or setup transition to finish before selecting Verify & Apply.

5. Connect Show Tools, but do not broadcast

  1. Open the Whatnot show's Show Tools in Chrome.
  2. Choose its OBS connection option.
  3. Enter 127.0.0.1, port 4455, and the exact password applied in Vendivo.
  4. Connect Show Tools.
  5. Keep its public broadcast control off.

Show Tools supplies the show's WHIP connection. Vendivo does not need a Whatnot RTMP server or stream key for this workflow.

6. Apply output settings

Open Show Settings → Output & Recording. Confirm Whatnot Show Tools, the fixed portrait format, the saved microphone choice, and the recording folder. Select Apply & Verify.

Resolve the first failed check and select Check Again. Apply & Verify applies output, recording-folder, and microphone configuration, then checks Production engine, local Whatnot credential configuration, Microphone, Internet, Recording storage, and Computer health. It does not create scenes, test an actual recording, verify camera picture, or prove that Show Tools/WHIP is connected or live.

7. Test every camera view

Return to TEST CAMERA VIEWS in the studio and test every enabled view while the public broadcast is off.

  • Confirm Seller and Product show the expected live cameras.
  • Confirm Stacked and Picture-in-Picture show two distinct cameras.
  • In Picture-in-Picture, use Move seller window left/right to keep the host away from the item.
  • Hold readable text in frame and confirm the final destination orientation is correct.
  • Confirm no Vendivo interface text or decorative banner appears in the clean program.

A mirrored local selfie preview can be normal. Readable text in the actual audience output must not be backward.

8. Build the show queue

In SHOW QUEUE, select Add Items…. Add at least one product, card, break, or lot per line and save the queue. Vendivo will not enable Start Show until the queue and every other readiness check pass.

Set the first item's starting view so Vendivo knows which verified scene to stage.

9. Start Show, then go on air

  1. Select Start Show in Vendivo.
  2. Confirm Vendivo stages the first item and its starting view.
  3. If you want a recording, select RECORD in Vendivo and confirm the control changes to RECORDING.
  4. Start the public broadcast in Whatnot Show Tools.
  5. Confirm Whatnot reports that the show is live.
  6. Check picture and sound briefly from a second device without feeding its speaker back into the show microphone.

Start Show begins Vendivo's local timeline and program flow. It does not start the Whatnot broadcast.

During the sale

Use Vendivo for item progression, program switching, seller cues, and production confidence. Use Whatnot for marketplace actions such as listings, product pins, auctions, chat, orders, and account controls.

Do not run scene tests, change the local WebSocket password, or synchronize the production engine while the local show, public broadcast, or recording is active.

Stop in the safe order

  1. Stop the public broadcast in Whatnot Show Tools.
  2. Confirm Whatnot reports that the output is off air.
  3. Stop recording in Vendivo, allow it to finalize, and verify the file.
  4. Select End Show in Vendivo to finish and save its local timeline.
  5. Close Vendivo or disconnect cameras only after both are safe.

Ending the Vendivo show does not stop a Whatnot broadcast. Always confirm the destination is off air first.

Why not OBS Virtual Camera?

OBS Virtual Camera is a compatibility output for apps that only offer a camera picker. It carries the composed picture but no OBS audio. The dedicated Show Tools WebSocket and WHIP path sends the clean Vendivo program together with its managed microphone.

Use the complete First Show Checklist before your first public sale.
