Camera Setup

Vendivo uses cameras that macOS makes available to the app. A camera must be detected, assigned to a role, and verified in the finished program before it is ready for a show.

Use Live Selling for Mac cameras

Choose Live Selling to use the integrated FaceTime camera, a USB webcam, or another camera available to macOS. Live Selling assigns cameras to production roles and creates switchable full-screen or combined views.

Camera Home is reserved for the forthcoming phone-companion workflow. It is not the place to configure local Mac cameras in the current public release.

Give Vendivo camera access

The first time Vendivo asks, allow Camera access in macOS. If access was denied:

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
  2. Enable Vendivo.
  3. Quit and reopen Vendivo.

Also close any app that may have exclusive control of the camera.

Assign a one-camera Whatnot show

Open Live Selling → Show Settings → Cameras or select Configure Cameras.

Choose one available camera for the setup. Vendivo uses it for the full-screen Seller and Product views. Assignments save as you make them; the finished program picture is verified later in the studio. This is the simplest and most reliable first-show configuration.

After synchronizing the production engine, test both views. Even when they use the same physical camera, each managed view must show the correct live program.

Assign a two-camera Whatnot show

Choose two distinct cameras:

  • Seller camera — frames the host.
  • Product camera — points at the selling surface or close-up area.

Two assigned cameras enable four views:

ViewAudience picture
SellerSeller camera full-screen
ProductProduct camera full-screen
StackedProduct receives most of the portrait frame; seller appears below
Picture-in-PictureProduct stays full-screen; seller appears in a smaller corner window

Use Move seller window left/right while Picture-in-Picture is active to keep the host window away from the item.

Assign a standard landscape show

Non-Whatnot destinations use different roles and views:

  • One camera can supply every required mode.
  • Two cameras use Wide / Host and Product. The wide camera supplies Host and protected Overview; Product supplies Break and Close-up.
  • Three cameras use Overview, Product, and Host assignments.

The resulting operating views are Host, Break, Close-up, and Protected Overview. See Multiple Cameras for the full mapping.

Verify, do not assume

Camera availability means macOS can see the device. It does not prove the complete production picture is correct.

  1. Open Show Settings → Production Engine and select Set Up OBS Automatically or Sync OBS Setup.
  2. Wait for the production engine and managed scenes to report ready.
  3. Open Show Settings → Output & Recording, then select Apply & Verify.
  4. Return to TEST CAMERA VIEWS and select each required view.
  5. Move in front of each camera and confirm the picture is live.
  6. Hold readable text in frame and confirm its final destination orientation.

Vendivo's interface labels and preview status badges are not rendered into the clean audience program.

Apply & Verify applies and checks configuration; it does not verify the camera picture. The live-frame check happens in TEST CAMERA VIEWS.

If the integrated camera is missing

  1. Confirm Vendivo has Camera permission in macOS.
  2. Quit FaceTime, Zoom, Teams, browsers, and other camera apps.
  3. Disconnect and reconnect external capture devices.
  4. Quit and reopen Vendivo.
  5. Reopen Show Settings → Cameras and look for the integrated camera by its macOS name.

If it appears in FaceTime but not Vendivo, restart the Mac before changing OBS sources manually.

If the wrong camera appears

Open Show Settings → Cameras and verify the exact assignments for the selected mode: Camera 1 for either one-camera mode, Seller and Product for two-camera Whatnot, Wide / Host and Product for two-camera landscape, or Overview, Product, and Host for three-camera landscape.

If the same camera or engine can be reconnected, leave an interrupted show open and select Recover or Recover Program. If an assignment, source, or scene must change, stop the public broadcast and confirm it is off air, stop and finalize recording, select End Show, wait for output or setup transitions to finish, then use Sync OBS Setup, Apply & Verify, and repeat the affected camera-view tests.

Opening Pro Mode and replacing a managed source by hand can make the OBS picture disagree with Vendivo. Use the same safe structural-repair order before synchronizing the managed scenes.

If the preview is blank, tiny, or stale

  • Confirm the Production engine status is Connected.
  • Select the view again and wait for the program check.
  • If the show is interrupted but the same device can return, reconnect it and select Recover or Recover Program.
  • If an assignment or scene must change, stop the public broadcast and confirm the destination reports off air, stop and finalize recording, select End Show if the local show is active or interrupted, and wait for broadcast, recording, and setup transitions to finish. Then select Sync OBS Setup and re-run verification.
  • Confirm the camera is not in use elsewhere.
  • If OBS is open because you chose Pro Mode, check that the program—not only a source preview—is changing.

Camera Home and system-camera output

Camera Home and Vendivo Phone Camera (Direct) are designed for the forthcoming phone companions. Those companion apps are not public customer downloads, and Camera Home does not currently select the local Mac cameras described in this guide.

Use Live Selling for the released Mac-camera workflow. When phone companions launch, their system-camera output will be video-only and destination apps will require a separate microphone selection.
